Hands on with the A. Lange und Söhne Odysseus (updated REVIEW)

A couple of  weeks ago I had the pleasure to get my hands on the newly released A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus.

I made an appointment at the A. Lange & Söhne boutique in 1881 Heritage Hong Kong, while visiting the city.

So here is my updated review of the watch after actually seeing it in person and trying it on.

The watch itself is as magnificent as expected. It truly resembles the high quality standards of A. Lange & Söhne. Even though it being a steel sports watch, which is not typically something I would have thought Lange would do. Nevertheless their execution of the Odysseus is in my opinion comparable in quality and style to a Royal Oak or a Nautilus.

In terms of specs:
– Case diameter of 40.5mm
– It’s 120m water resistant
– Dark blue dial
– White gold hands
– Steel case
– Steel metal bracelet
– Price 28.000€

The Odysseus sits very nicely on the wrist and is super comfortable. With the 40.5mm case diameter it works well on both larger and smaller wrists.

Probably the only downside for me is the metal bracelet as I would have expected Lange to either use a water-resistant alligator strap, a rubber strap or a combination of the two. Nonetheless after trying it on I must say that the bracelet is in fact very comfortable compared to other metal bracelets, but it is not enough to change my opinion about metal bracelets in general. So therefore I would definitely change to a dark blue genuine alligator strap.

The favorite part of this watch for me are the two big day and date windows. This is very typical for Lange and resembles the DNA of the brand that was put into this watch.

All in all the watch not only wears extremely well on the wrist it also looks fantastic and its quality is magnificent. Definitely a watch I’d love to add to my collection.
